Teknologiakylä, the "technology village" at Linnanmaa / Oulu, specifically Elektroniikkatie, a non-place at the crossing with Tietolinja onwards to the forest.
What is TEK.village?
The Technology Village (Teknologiakylä) in Oulu, Finland, is a significant environment for technological research, innovation, and future-oriented work.
By day, it is a dynamic hub for scientific and technological development, bustling with human activity and ideas of progress. By night, it transforms into a space reclaimed by more-than-human life. This contemporary “non-place” is characterized by its glass facades, parking lots, bus stops, green spaces, dining areas, and the multitude of technological tools and innovations being developed within it.
Oulu is the European Capital of Culture for 2026, and TEK.VILLAGE is part of the Oulu2026 cultural programme and its vision for cultural climate change.
There is a growing need to expand cultural activity beyond traditional institutions and city-centre venues into the spaces where people live, work, and move through their daily lives. The Oulu2026 programme emphasizes cultural vitality, accessibility, sustainability, and the activation of everyday environments. Teknologiakylä represents an ideal site for this ambition, and TEK.VILLAGE seeks to demonstrate how art can transform a familiar workplace into an unexpected site for creativity, reflection, and encounter. By pushing the boundaries of exhibition-making and collaborative artistic practice, the project reveals the untapped cultural potential of this unique environment through art, technology, ecology, and community.

*Anthem Of Dystopian Community by Radoš Manigoda is a three-channel composition experienced collectively. The work changes according to the number of people listening at the same time. Even though it can be listened to individually per fragment channel, listening to the full composition requires three people simultaneously.

16:00 — Guided walk through We Are All Connected, a collection of six artworks by Serbian students from the Academy of Arts, University of Novi Sad in Serbia. The artworks span hidden games, sculptures, sound composition, and sensory installations.
Accessibility:
Artworks are located along Elektroniikkatie, between numbers 2B and 15. The main roads and paths in the area are generally flat and accessible. Some artworks are located on grass, between buildings, or in courtyards, so accessibility may vary between individual works. The exhibition includes sound, digital media, lighting, and audiovisual artworks. Some works may contain flashing or changing lights and may not be suitable for visitors with photosensitivity. Some artworks and performances may also include amplified or repetitive sounds. The main languages of the event are English and Finnish. Guides will be available during exhibition hours on Saturday and Sunday. Visitors are welcome to ask the organizers for assistance or additional information. Seating and resting opportunities in the exhibition area may be limited. There are no public toilets available at the exhibition site.
